Recordings

Winfield 2007

At the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, KS for 2007 I decided to write songs, and get them recorded and posted on the internet as soon as possible. So, links below will link to these songs written and recorded during my time in Winfield.

These are just rough recordings. I recorded and published as quickly as possible. No fancy editing, overdubbing, or mastering. These are raw. Please keep this in mind as you evaluate these songs.

Dont Walk

DONT WALK was a college band that was made up of me on rhythm guitar and lead vocals, Jeff Morrison on bass and vocals, Doug Schmidt on lead guitar, and Carol Daubert on drums. We were great friends and always had a great time when we played together. We played out quite a bit, but we also recorded two demo tapes, which preserves how the band sounded. The first one was in 1985, and the second one was in 1986. Vic Anderson recorded and produced them.

Christmas 87

Each year in the mid-eighties I put out a tape of my recordings for my family for Christmas. Here are the songs from 1987.

I started writing and recording back in the mid 1980's. I have these recordings on tape, and as I get them converted to digital, and then to mp3 format, I will post them here.

I recorded these songs on four track cassette decks, using various techniques to minimize the number of bounces, which add noise. I have not digitally removed any of the tape hiss. You will be able to hear a little, but it doesn't sound too bad considering I pulled these off tapes that are twenty years old.

Intuit

Intuit was a duo of Eric Grow and Jim Herrmann where we used n Atari ST computer to sequence, using MIDI, our drums, keyboards, and some bass lines. We would then play and sing over the MIDI. Remember that this was 1988, and MIDI was something new. The fact that we were able to put together forty songs, some of them original, using this technology was quite a feat. We were ahead of our time. If we would have stayed with it, who knows what would have happened.

Gridlock

Gridlock was a band I was in in the early nineties that consisted of me on bass and vocals, Steve Gold on lead guitar, Rich Berry on guitar and vocals, Charlie Comely on drums and vocals and Frank Carter on acoustic guitar and vocals.

We weren't together very long, but we did make an extensive demo tape that endures.

Old Stuff

I have converted some of my cassette tapes from the eighties and nineties to a digital medium. I have band demo tapes, and studio recordings.

KKFI Morning Buzz Show Jan 17 2007

On Wednesday, January 17, 2007, I was on the radio with Mike Murphy on KKFI, 90.1 FM, to promote WWWD on Saturday, January 20th. Mike gave me a recording of the show, and I have edited it down to just the relevant parts. I did two live songs, and one new recording. We also played a song each from David Haken, Jim Abel, and Joe Carr. I hope it was a good promotion.

You can download (31M) the entire thing, or you can stream it. I recommend you stream it.

Enjoy,
Jim
